Staying by the square in Leksand

Hotell Leksand is a small, personal hotel with 11 rooms at Leksandsvägen 7, right in the centre of Leksand. You roll in your suitcase without a single stair, and your key is in an envelope with your name.

No two rooms look alike. Floral wallpaper, antique chairs along the corridor and a lounge with armchairs and art. It is a small house, and you notice it in a good way.

Breakfast is always included, wifi is available throughout the house and the sauna is free for guests. Self check-in opens at 15:00, and you receive the entrance door code by email or text message on the day of arrival.

Six reasons to stay at Hotell Leksand

  • 1. The car can stay parked.

The train, Tegera Arena, the church by Lake Siljan and Hildasholm are within walking distance of the square.

  • 2. No stairs, no lift to wait for.

All 11 rooms are at street level and the entrance has no steps. This makes arriving easy with heavy bags, a pushchair or a rollator. Room 105 is accessibility adapted.

  • 3. Breakfast comes from Leksand.

Bread from Siljans konditori, Rältagården’s Leksand ham, Gustafs sausage and crispbread from Leksands Knäckebröd. It is included in every room.

  • 4. The sauna is yours.

Free for guests, for 2–3 people and without booking. The sauna is the natural way to end an evening in the stands or a day on the trails.

  • 5. The price is clear.

From SEK 1,395 per night. Prices vary by date and number of guests – see the current price when you book. Breakfast included. Wifi is always included, and children under 3 stay free.

  • 6. Guests highlight the welcome.

“… Personalen är supertrevlig och tillmötesgående. Upplever att kunden var i fokus.” (“… The staff are super friendly and accommodating. It felt like the customer was the focus.”) – Mats Karlsson, Google

Local breakfast, always included

The morning begins with a continental buffet where almost everything has an address in Leksand. The bread comes from Siljans konditori Monday to Saturday. Alongside it are Rältagården’s Leksand ham, Gustafs sausage and crispbread from Leksands Knäckebröd, together with filmjölk, yoghurt, fresh fruit and vegetables.

If you need lactose-free or gluten-free options, let us know when booking or at check-in at the latest, and we will arrange it.

A day from the hotel

  1. Breakfast plate in the hotel dining room

    Morning

The breakfast buffet is laid out at 07:00 on weekdays and 08:00 at weekends. Put a slice of Rältagården's Leksand ham on bread from Siljans konditori, or have filmjölk with fruit if you want a light start. If you need lactose-free or gluten-free, let us know when you book.

  2. A gravel path lined with birches on a misty morning

    Late morning

Walk down towards Lake Siljan. After about 11 minutes you reach Leksand Church on the point between Österviken and the Österdal River. The oldest parts date from around 1200, and next to it are the heritage farmsteads with timber houses from different centuries.

  3. Coffee and a cinnamon bun on a wooden table by the window

    Lunch

Hildasholm is about twelve minutes from the hotel. Axel Munthe had the house built in 1910 as a gift to his wife Hilda. Hilda's café serves lunch and afternoon tea in the garden. Check the season and opening hours at hildasholm.org before you go.

  4. View over a lake with forested hills

    Afternoon

Leksand Art Museum is also about twelve minutes away on foot. In summer, take the car instead to Orsandbaden, about four minutes, or to Leksand Sommarland, five to six minutes. In winter you drive to the slopes and ski trails around Lake Siljan.

  5. The door to the hotel sauna

    Evening

If there is a home game, walk to Tegera Arena in eight minutes and stroll back after the final whistle. Otherwise have dinner by the square or on Norsgatan. The sauna is free for two to three people, and the next morning breakfast is laid out again.

Seating corner in the hotel lounge

Evenings at the hotel

When the day is over there are two places to settle down. The first is the sauna: free for guests, for two to three people and without booking. You go whenever you like.

The second is the lounge, with seating areas, armchairs, art on the walls and a TV in the sitting corner. Antique chairs and mirrors line the corridor.
