The story behind Hildasholm
Hildasholm was built in 1910–1911 by Axel Munthe for Hilda Pennington Mellor. The house is well preserved and is shown today as a home, with belongings of the Munthe family. The whole estate is designed in the Arts and Crafts spirit, where house, garden and nature belong together.
The gardens
The gardens were laid out by Hilda Munthe, inspired by classic gardens in England, France and Italy. Today there are 14 garden rooms that differ in style and planting. Traditional flowers grow here, such as rudbeckia, peonies and delphiniums, and paths lead on into the nature park towards the lake.

Tours and tickets
The house is shown on guided tours, and a tour takes about 50 minutes. The house-tour ticket includes the garden. Hildasholm also welcomes groups. Opening hours, prices and tickets are published on hildasholm.org – the season is short, so check before you go.
Walking there from the hotel
The walk takes about 12 minutes, and you need no car. From the hotel you can also walk to Leksand Church (about 11 minutes) and Leksand Art Museum (about 12 minutes), so it is easy to combine several visits in one day.

Address: Klockaregatan 5, 793 31 Leksand
Before and after your visit
Breakfast is included in the room and served 07:00–09:00 on weekdays and 08:00–10:00 at weekends, so you can eat at your own pace before you set off. The Hildasholm season is short, so check opening hours and book the house tour in advance on hildasholm.org. Afterwards it is a short way back to the hotel, and in the evening the sauna is free for 2–3 people, no booking needed. If you want to see more of Leksand the same day, Tegera Arena is an 8-minute walk away.
Practical tips

- Allow time for the gardens after the tour.
- Breakfast is included at the hotel, so you can walk over straight after breakfast.
